Learning Lab/Resource Department

  • The Learning Lab at Bethany High School, Koramangala, was started in 2005 by Mrs. Sima Bhushan and Mrs. Latha Prakash with the aim of supporting students with diverse learning needs. The Kommasandra branch began in 2013 with just one special educator and four students, and today supports 23 students with a team of 9 special educators.
  • Our guiding belief is simple: “If I cannot learn the way you teach, teach me the way I can learn.” This reflects our commitment to inclusive education and equal opportunities for every child.
  • The Learning Lab focuses on individualised learning. Each child is supported based on their unique strengths and challenges, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
  • The team includes a senior special educator, a coordinator, and trained special educators who work closely with students, teachers, and parents. Regular monitoring, goal setting, and progress reviews ensure consistent support.
  • The remediation programme addresses key academic areas such as reading, writing, comprehension, spelling, oral language, and numeracy skills.
  • Teaching methods are multi-sensory and activity-based. Strategies include phonics, structured reading, vocabulary building, hands-on maths activities, and creative writing.
  • A variety of tools like worksheets, reading resources, and educational games are used to make learning engaging and effective.
  • Students are identified through teacher observations, informal screening, and formal assessments conducted by professionals.
  • For students needing more intensive support, the LEAP programme offers a modified curriculum with a strong focus on skills and activities.
  • Parents are actively involved through regular meetings and support groups, creating a strong partnership between home and school.
