Digital Addiction Awareness: Insights and Solutions for Parents

February 20, 2025
Bethany Institutions

The Counselling Department at Bethany High School conducted insightful sessions on Digital Addiction for parents across Koramangala and Sarjapur campuses to address growing concerns about excessive technology use and its impact on children. The sessions aimed to provide awareness, research-backed insights, and actionable solutions to help families develop healthier digital habits.

Ms. Rohina Thomas, Senior Counsellor, led the first session, highlighting the influence of social media, toxic digital habits, and their effects on emotional and cognitive development. She emphasized the importance of setting screen time rules, leading by example, and prioritizing family time to create a healthier digital environment. A video on emerging digital trends was presented, followed by a Digital Detox Pledge, encouraging parents to implement responsible technology use at home.

The second session, led by Mr. Srihari, CEO and Co-Founder of SpryEN Solutions and SpryntZ Technologies, focused on the impact of electromagnetic radiation (EMR), its sources, and potential long-term health effects. Through live demonstrations and research-backed insights, he showcased how digital exposure influences well-being and provided practical measures to minimize risks.

Both sessions included interactive Q&A discussions, where parents actively engaged in conversations about managing digital habits, addressing behavioral concerns, and implementing structured technology use at home. These sessions reinforced Bethany High’s commitment to promoting digital wellness and intentional technology use, equipping parents with the knowledge and tools to foster a balanced digital lifestyle for their children.
